Job Description – GARMENT MERCHANDISER
(Category: Denim (or alternative option – Woven) for lady, men and kids)
Merchandiser acts as the liaison between Cencosud head office and Suppliers, responsible for the full lifecycle management of products—from price negotiation, order allocation & follow-up to delivery optimization. Goal is to balance product competitiveness vs. cost, provide quality up to Cencosud standards and ensure on time delivery to drive sales growth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quotation and Price negotiation.
Handling efficient costing exercise, ensuring competitive price match with required quality product level & optimize pricing strategies to maintain profit margins.
2. Product Development.
Coordinate with vendors accurate development of prototypes samples in required timeframe. Collaborate with R&D and design teams to refine product specs, review samples for fit/appeal, and suggest cost-effective alternatives .
3. Order Management.
Manage end-to-end order processes: Liaise with suppliers to place purchase orders (POs), confirm production timelines, and track order progress to ensure adherence to delivery schedules.
Resolve supply chain issues: Proactively identify and address delays (e.g., raw material shortages, production bottlenecks) by coordinating with logistics, production, and supplier teams; adjust plans as needed to minimize impacts on inventory and sales.
4. Quality Control.
Review QC reports for incoming shipments, address quality issues with suppliers, and ensure products meet brand standards and regulatory requirements.
5. Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Smooth and productive communication with all parties engaged in process, offering prompt actions to challenging situations, sharing alternative points of view and ingenious solutions.
Skills & Competencies:
1. Education Background: Textile industry, Apparel Merchandising, Business Administration, or a related field.
3. Minimum 5 years' experience in textile/apparel industry
4. Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of garment construction, costing, materials and manufacturing processes, exposure to international markets (South America is preferred)
4. Excellent communication & negotiation skills: Proficiency in collaborating with cross-functional teams (designers ,buyers, sales, suppliers, logistic, QC team ) and negotiating terms with manufacturers.
5. Detail-oriented & organized: Ability to manage multiple orders and timelines simultaneously while ensuring accuracy in product specifications and order details.
6. Trend sensitivity: Keen awareness of global garment trends, consumer preferences, and industry innovations (sustainable materials).
7. Familiar with Sustainable materials and production process.
8. Software skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel is a MUST)
